The the Impotence of Proofreading
I always knew that it was "important" to proofread, but I had never had too much of an issue with not proofreading. After Mr. Bruno read that poem to us although it was funny it has made me almost OCD on the whole proofreading thing. I mean when I was wrinting an answer to a math problem I double checked my spelling like 15 times...and on sat day...

WOW, Jaielle i totally agree, I overdosed on my proofreading too, SAT especially! though you missed something in your post, kinda ironic no?
ReplyDeleteI was happy Mr. Bruno decided to have a discussion on proofreading. Myself, I tend neglect proofreading a little more than I should. Ever since that discussion day, I try to remind myself to proofread. Not only to just proofread, but to take the time when I proofread.
ReplyDeleteProof reading is something that I have not cared about, I would usually rely on my parents to do it for me. On the critical terms essay, my grade reflects on the importance of proofreading. Mr. B wrote that I wandered off topic. With proof reading I could have stayed on target. I know we all don't proof read judgeing by some of the errors in our posts, but its something we should do a lot more of.
ReplyDeletecan i just say that proofreading really does help me alot. i have my paper all typed up then i go over it to get some of the more obvious mistakes. then i give it to an outside source like my mom or dad, then they help me adjust the syntax of my sentences, then i read it outloud to myself and make sure i am happy with the quality and smoothness of my paper. so having 4 or 5 drafts before the final paper or poem is actually done make me a better writer and only betters my scores[: so i am in a 100% agreeable standpoint with Mali and the importance of proofreading.
ReplyDeleteon a side note- he has a website of like 10 or so of his poems and they are soo totally amazing. i love all of them. i even used one in my poetry portfolio. thanks Mr. Bruno for using some of his poems in class discussion, i am OBSESSED with BTaylor Mail's writing style.
I actually rarely proofread outside of rereading for pure quality after I've completely finished, because I am excessively fussy about any typos and miswordings, misspellings, poor grammar, et cetera, -while- I'm writing.
ReplyDeleteSo I proofread more for reading quality than as a spelling and grammar check.
As an aside, I adore poetry, essays, writing, anything of that sort that makes a point the way this poem does. By combination of example and sheer cheek.
