The Alchemist
Over the summer while I was visiting the JMU bookstore I came across a book that had caught my eye. This book had a Middle Eastern setting to it, which interested me, and my mom told me I should read it for pleasure. The book was the Alchemist. It had opened my eyes to some possibilites out there and some of it's teachings I recognized in Mr. Bruno's short story discussions in class. As long as you have an open mind and are not discriminative to relgion (because most of the characters in the book are muslim) you should find yourself enjoying a good book.

I just celebrated a birthday and I was given a gift that I wasn't sure about until I sat down and opened the book. A friend of the family bought me a copy of A Tale of Two Cities. Bekah decided to read another Dickens novel, SHOCKING! Yes, I know. But it's fantastic, it takes awhile to get through, but I'm enjoying it more than I did Great Expectations. If anyone is interested, grab a copy. Dickens is phenomenal. It has the best intro of all time and it takes you from laughing to crying to being totally confused. It's a literary adventure, and I love it.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I commented on this blog because it dealt with something we didn't read in class, fyi.
