The Dubliners-Clay

Let me just start by saying that i throughly enjoy the wat James Joyce conducts his short stories. I really enjoy how in Clay he not only decrbes Maria as being shy in her personality but also the way she looks. When he described the way her noce touches her chin at first i thought "wow this chick looks messed up" but then i realized he wanted her to seem as though she is always looking down because she is shy and quiet. I also enjoy how at this point in the novel characters from other stories begin to interact with one another, for example how Ginger Mooney has an appearence in this one with Maria. I am excited to see where else this novel will take me as far as the lives of Dubliners and i cannot wait to read the last short story in the book...The Dead.

  1. I really enjoyed them as well Emilee. Many of his stories were actually written to motivate the Irish nationalists to move towards progression and to escape the bondage of the Catholic church. The purpose and plot of his stories are so easy to understand once we grasp that he is writing to the Irishmen.
